Guru Nanak’s Free Kitchen
Until Vaisakhi Food Drive Campaign: A new campaign, every Sunday - distributing
food downtown will continue until Vaisakhi (April 14). We will be cooking / packaging
the food at Gurdwara Sahib Sukh Sagar in New Westminster at 2 p.m. each Sunday
and the Gurdwara has agreed to ask anyone that books weekend Langar or Akhand
Paat Sahib programs to provide the food supplies for that Sunday’s food drive. We
require about 15 to 20 volunteers from 2 to 4 p.m. to help pack about 1,000 meals
each Sunday. No registration is required; you can just come to the Langar hall at
Sukh Sagar in New Westminster at 2 p.m. For delivering and handing out the food,
we'll be using the Gurdwara van again and already have distribution teams made up
with Rashpal, Kulpreet, Indy and Jas (same crew as the December / early January
food drives) and they will be taking turns distributing the food each week.
Registration is now open on the website and register early as shifts often fill up and
once that happens it is not available on the website. If anyone has any suggestions
or improvements for these food drives, email and let the team know. Phone: 778-
881-SEVA. Website: gurunanaksfreekitchen.

Free Tax Help
As the tax filing deadline approaches, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is
reminding Canadians with low or fixed incomes that volunteers are available
in the community to assist with the preparation of tax returns. Each year,
through its Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, the CRA links with
community organizations to train volunteers to complete basic tax returns. The
community organizations hold tax-preparation clinics where the volunteers
donate their time to help people with simple-tax filing situations complete their
income tax and benefit returns, free of charge. To determine if you are eligible
for this service call the CRA toll free at 1-800-959-8281 or visit www.cra.gc.
